Prof. Arif A. Waqif has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California. He was Principal, Bentham Institute of Management and Languages, Hyderabad (2010), Visiting Faculty at Aurora's Business School, Hyderabad (2009-10) and Adjunct Professor, ICFAI School of Public Policy, Hyderabad (2008-09). Earlier, he was Academic and Research Director, Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia, Hyderabad (2005-08). He was Professor and Founder-Dean, School Management Studies, University of Hyderabad (1999-2005); Larsen and Toubro Chair Professor, Chairman, Economics Area and Dean, Research (for two years), Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad (1979-1999); and Assistant Professor of Economics, Pahlavi University, Shiraz, Iran (1976-79) and California State University, San Bernardino (1974-76). His research interests include development implications of liberalisation, globalisation, quality of management and higher education, unemployment and poverty alleviation, South Asian economic, industrial, transport and aca demic cooperation, economics and management of energy and environment, social cost-benefit and impact analysis, among others.

He holds a Ph D in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota (1998), and doctorates in both Juris Doctor and Juridical Sciences from Northwestern California University School of Law (2006, 2008), Laws from Canterbury University in the United Kingdom, Interdisciplinary Studies from the Commonwealth Open University of British Virgin Islands, Diplomacy and International Affairs from the John Jay School of Diplomacy and International Affairs in Washington DC and Political Economy from the Swiss Management Center in Switzerland.
