USING SCIENTIFIC ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS TO DEFEAT THE DILEMMA OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

Abstract

This paper titled “using scientific entrepreneurial skills to defeat the dilemma of underdevelopment in Nigeria” discussed the importance of science entrepreneurial education in reducing unemployment in Nigeria. The paper identified the various causes of unemployment in Nigeria as bad government, social conflict, gender disparity and environmental factors. Some consequences of unemployment such as malnutrition, starvation, mental illness, drug dependence, crime and violence, emergence of slum and poor education were discussed. The contribution of science entrepreneurial education to unemployment reduction were highlighted and the paper concluded that science entrepreneurial education helps in developing a sound mind which is a basis for empowerment towards wealth creation and poverty reduction in Nigeria. Three recommendations were made one of it was that, for poverty to be alleviated the study of science entrepreneurial education should be taking into focus at the secondary school levels.
